Default Turn Signal Mirrors

Has anyone seen this tech item in the new May 2010 issue of HPP?

I'm impressed!

I am in the process of putting some Sport Mirrors on my 67 GTO and have been thinking on how I could incorporate this type of flasher signal in them.

Bet you guys didn't know there was a difference from side to side, did you?

I think I'll call them and ask about availability of these mirrors to fit these housing.
I got these from a guy on EBay who said they were from a 78-85 El Camino. Remote cables on both of them. I'm guessing they would be the same as a Second Generation Trans Am? Am I correct or not?

Update, just got off the phone with Peter at MITO. I have just sent off an email to another fellow named Jim Wellman who I need to talk to in the "retrofit" division there.

Updates to follow.

Called Jim back today and told him that because of my shortcomings, I had not told him enough information as to the car model these mirrors had come from. Upon searching out BURCO's site and putting in 78-85 EL CAMINO/MONTE CARLO/MALIBU for replacement glass, I came up with BURCO #2132(LH) and # 3183(RH). So, glass is available, in fact my local SafeLite dealer can get me these glass pieces within 24 hours.

http://www.burcoinc.com/products/online_catalog/

I then asked Jim if these would be made with 5 or 7 LED's in the mirror and he referred me to MUTH Mirror where these are actually done. I spoke with Chris there and he is doing some research for me on this question and will email me ASAP. He advised me to watch the video on installation on this page for understanding of installation questions I had.

They also make little spot mirrors with the LED's in them. Click on the "Wide Angle Signal Mirror" link for that.

More INFO as I get it,

Charles

They use new glass from these people.
http://www.burcoinc.com/products/online_catalog/

If the glass is available, they put the LED's on it for you.

Question Turn signal mirrors

Charles

Did you ship the mirrors to them to do the conversion, or did you just assemble them yourself?

I was just wondering how they look installed in your car.
Any recent photos?
I think I would like to try this in my 67 Lemans

Thanks, Ron

Thumbs up

Mirrors turned out nice. You can get a decal on amazon.com for $4.95 with a Pontiac crest on each end of this. OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE LOSING Search Pontiac decals.
