The VINS do not tell you what options your car has, send away to PHS to find that out. The first number 2 = Pontiac Division, the 42 = GTO and the 37 = LeMans, the 4th and 5th didgits 37= 2 door hrt, the 6th spot is the year, 8=68 9=69 1=71, R = Arlington TX plant, Z= Fremont CA plant, and the last six are the sequencial production number

You might think about posting some clear pics of the trim tags found on the upper lh portion of the cowl. These will give a little more info on the makeup of the cars. The only other choices that you have are finding manifest (build) sheets in the car, or sending $50 for each car to PHS for the documentation that they offer.

you missed one, the first number after the plant letter denotes # of engine cylinders, a 1 for 8 cylinders and a 6 for 6 cylinder cars.

Look at post #4. That pretty much covers it.

For the 68 GTO, it is the 44,961st V8 powered car to be produced at Arlington that year. I have a 68 GTO from the Pontiac Plant that is 100110 or the 110th V8 car produced for the 68 model year. Built in August. I doubt there is an earlier surviving 68 GTO...
