Thumbs up Firebirds are cool once more - its official...

I guess we knew it all along, but heres the latest word from the street. Our beloved 'bird is featured in the latest music video from 2 of the biggest names in todays music business

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-e7NKbHPsE

Love or hate the music, it makes a change to see a nice muscle car in a music video rather than a 'pimped' car!

Interesting?

Just hope they don't start pimping out our FAVORITE car.
(too much of that went on 30 years ago)
We're STILL cleaning up the MESS!

It looks to be a T/A with a Formula hood. I think the shaker is still on it too, but it's hard to confirm.

The car is shown for just the first part (25-30%) of the video so if you cant stand the music CUT THE POWER!

Interesting to see that Funkybird is looking up Justin Timberlake videos

I loved the car and the women though!

if i'd have to guess, the car is a normal righthand drive, but the video is mirrored due to copyright and legalty issues. this way, it is different from the actual video, and should be allowed to be posted. but that's just my thoughts.

not a fan of the track, though. i do have timbaland & co on my music collection, but can't like this track. however, when the speakers are off the video gets a lot better

firebirds never lost their cool, tho. it would be a bit overrated (just a tiny bit :P) to say that i always have to bash my way to the driver's seat through crowds of hot video girls - or would it? :O :P

haha well it's good to see a bird in the vids. to be honest....i don't get why they didn't take a more tricked out bird. don't get me wrong, i'd take the 70-73 over a bandit any day, but couldn't they put the BRE superbandit in there? or for that matter, put some foose or boy'ds on there? not that i'm complaining our birds deserve the star status they should be having, right there next to the stangs and the cuda's. ESPECCIALY the 73's. they kicked the lilly A out of any other (US) car back in the day - bone stock!

kudos to the video director

The whole Video , or at least the scenes, the words" Drive IN" etc are all shot with real film and a lense ( which gets you inverted images on the positives) OR they just digitally inverted it, and most likely for the effect on the words DRIVE IN , rather than the car.
You do not see this in the MT DEW Commercial with the trans am doing a flip.
Everyone knows, its a PONCHO!!

While I know it isnt a 70-73, heres another recent video where the Bird rules. Kid Rock, cowboy.....and you definitely see the car a lot in the video. They should have asked Burt Reynolds to do a cameo apprearance...

Glad you guys like it. I saw it on MTV and although I like the artists, IMO its a pretty lame track.

My point is that the creative types who dreamed up this video selected the Firebird over ANY other car. Corvettes, Ferraris and Hummers were rejected as they didnt have the right image. These guys are professionals in creating a strong & appealing image to grow their clients brand. That selection process means that the Firebird has become a style icon.

By coincidence I was a classic car museum over the weekend, and nestling amonst the beautiful Lambos and Maseratis was a 73 TA. If you look carefully in the 2nd row of the pic you can see the tail end of it. So proof indeed that our car is a thoroughbred, classic, style icon.

I'm sure he'd have done it! Great road tune!

Saw a Bandit getting striped yesterday - cool cars.

I forgot Gary Coleman was in that video. I guess Kid Rock like the 2nd gen birds, he had one in Joe Dirt too.

Funkybird.....that 73 TA fits right in at the museum. I think the styling was and is today just as impressive if not more so than many of the exotics.

Chris @ Mike.......I like that song and video from Kid Rock. Good for in the car...

Also nice because the car actually sees a lot of time in that video. Unfortunately it isnt a T-top car, and its not quite as nice as the one Burt got to pilot in the movie...lol.
