I picked up this car a few weeks ago. I had not intended to mess with the wires until I fixed everything else. Well, best laid plans - the switch to the top went. Got under the dash and saw a huge mess. Lots of wires not connected to anything. Under the hood I have about 5 wires that are just hanging there. Strange but everything works.
Can you guys tell me where I can find a good diagram for this car? I have several books I've bought so far and none deal with the specifics behind the dash. Also, I found a blue wire, under the carpet on the right side of the car. It looks like it might be coming through the firewall (I need to pull everything to confirm). Any idea what it might be for? I've never dealt with car wires before but I can wire a motorcycle in my sleep so I have a good understanding of how to proceed once I get a good diagram. Thanks guys. |

A factory service manual will be one of your best investments. I recall a big pull out diagram for the wiring for the whole car.
Where are you located?

I'll look for one.
I'm in Northern Virginia - right next to D.C. |

I would guess the blue wire is for a rear speaker.

I have a single blue wire like that in my 69. It goes under the carpet, up behind the heater box, then just under the top panel in the dash and terminates at an open connector. I am sure it is an original factory wire because it has one of those plastic clips that holds it in place under the dash top panel. I am guessing its for a rear speaker too.
