Ok another little issue. The regulator is putting out 18 volts when I accelerate. This is in my 67 GP. The regulator has the little adjustment under the cover, the question is clockwise or counter-clockwise to reduce the voltage?
Thanks, Harry

Just try it buy turning the screw in 1/2 turn increments while looking at a volt meter.

Make sure the regulator is grounded good, and you have the same voltage on the regulator bat terminal as battery voltage.
Low voltage at the regulator bat terminal makes the regulator spend more time sending power to the rotor....thus causing over charge. All it would take is a poor connection causing resistance.

Just to complete the thread, loosening the adjustment screw near the base reduces the voltage, tightening it increases the voltage. My car is now putting out a very happy 14 volts at 2000 rpm.
