Depends on the color of the car. Certain colors got matching wheels, the rest got black.

Im sure they should be black on a white car, but heres a list of wheel colors, and alpine blue is a wheel color..69 has more colors..
black...standard if full hub caps alpine blue nordic blue april gold meridian turquois tuff call....i have a set of white 15x7s that came off a white 68 lemans with dog dishes and it looked really good to me...the original spare in the car was black..the spare in my turquois car is turquois...but the car has wheel covers..i put dog dishes on it..so maybe on the dealer lot somone wanted the full wheel cover...it happens..id do it the way ya want....nordic blue wheels would set that color combo off i think..it would be pretty unique.. I've seen a cameo ivory with white wheels on ultimategto....but based on the info provided (thankyou by the way), I agree, alpine blue wheels with the same color roof would look slick. Actually, it was originally a full wheel cover car, but I really dig the look of the dog dish covers....I have a set of Rally II's, but may still opt for the dog dish hub caps.....thanks again

According to the paint charts in the old "GTO Restoration Guide" by Zazarine & Roberts, the only colors available on the basic steel wheels in '69 are:
Starlight Black Antique Gold Limelight Green Crystal Turquoise Warwick Blue If you have the book, this is on page 38. |

Considering that only a few colors were painted on factory steel wheels would all green cars regardless of color of green receive limelight green wheels ?
For example, in 69 would a Verdora and Midnight green GTO that was not ordered with wheel option receive Limelight green painted steel wheels ? Anyone have colors of painted steel wheels associated with exterior body colors if no wheel option was ordered for both 69 and 70 GTO's?

For 1965, on a two-tone car where the lower color was white, the upper color determined the wheel color. If the same "rules" applied for 1968, then a two-tone Cameo Ivory lower/ Alpine Blue upper car would have gotten Alpine Blue wheels with standard hub caps.
