Looking at replacing my standard bottle neck studs on a set of 6x heads, will be using stock stamped rockers and there seems to be quite a number of 7/16 studs available. Im thinkink the ARp 100-7101 will do the job just after verification that these will do the trick and if not what part number do I ned.
Thanks |

"will be using stock stamped rockers"
Then Id guess you will be using a stock or close to stock cam and valve springs. why would the original studs be a problem? |

sorry I didnt make a useful reply. You must be upgrading for future needs. Stronger is never a bad idea.
I dont know if you can buy locally or if you have to import. I do know there are two heights, I think one arp# is for standard replacement of bigblock chev stud and the one arp# that you referenced, is the taller stud often retrofitted to Pontiac heads. Either way Id call your favorite Pontiac vendor whoever that is, http://www.pacificperformanceracing....fasteners.html NOT Summit or Jegs and make sure which you want for your deal. I believe the taller stud is to accommodate higher valve stems, longer pushrods and the geometry changes that accompany swaps to high lift camshafts. The only problem I can think of with the 1.9" stud would be if the adjusting threads extend down far enough for a closer to stock valvetrain configuration. |

Personally,I dont bother with ARP's if using stamped rockers and the crimped style rocker lock-nuts,the ARP studs are'nt really meant for those nuts (at least that's what they say),as they make the threads differently somehow (IDK how though???),and the crimped lock-nuts dont seem to hold the adjustment as well on those studs.
For a low buck 7/16" straight stud replacement,I just go to the parts store and buy some generic "stock replacement" (clevite, melling, sealed power) BBC studs and rocker lock nuts and run those. Now with that said... As for the ARP studs, often the only way to know for sure which ARP stud is gonna work for a given application is to buy 'em & try 'em,as different valvetrain parts combinations can affect which stud works best. But IMHO the studs you really want here are the 135-7101 studs, not the 100-7101. The 100-7101's are taller (1.900"),and typically the BBC studs are already a bit tall for our pontiacs,so often you wont need the taller studs, not unless you have taller valves or something of that sort, sure these studs have a bit more thread length (1.000") but remember that also includes the added OAL length as well. The 135-7101 studs are the "standard" BBC replacement stud from ARP,note that they are a bit shorter (1.750"),and still have plenty of threads (.850"),so ask me these are a more likely fit for your deal. Also, there is a notation in the catalog that states that the 100-7101's are for use with roller rocker or stud girdles,so that explains the slightly longer OAL of those studs. Anyhow,if you use the ARP studs, your best off using poly locks as well, and not the OE crimped rocker lock nuts. HTH Bret P. |

Just go to any NAPA store and get you a set of standard Big Block Chevy 7/16" replacement studs and the crimp nuts. Have used them for even roller application. Use the Pontiac rockers and balls. Grooved balls if you got em or can get them.
We also stock all that stuff too. Nice to be able to set the lash yourself.
