Distributor decode help?
Hi Guys,
I have the correct distributor for my car, number 1111449. This is followed by an alpha numeric combination which I can not seem to find any info on. The alpha numeric combinaton is L 24. Could this simply be the date code of December 24? Thanks, Greg |

The date code should have 4 digits. Example; 8L24 -> December 24th 1968
The 1111449 is a 1968 model, 400HO engine with manual transmission. |

You are correct MescaBug. There is a faint 7 before the L 24. I should have cleaned it a little better first.

I'll state the obvious, just so it's said out loud. This is a 24 Dec 1967 distributor...for a 4bbl manual transmission 1968 GTO.

sorry for the franken-post;
I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that in respect to the distributor stamped date code, it was for the calendar year, not the model year. I am going through my small stock pile of parts and found that I have 2x 1111253 distributors; one is 6L_3 the other is 6H11. I thought that this application number was only for 1967 engines, and if that's correct, that means both of these were made for the 1967 model year, but during the 1966 calendar year; 6L_3 = 1966, December 3 6H11 = I am unsure at this moment if the stamped codes skipped I or anything else, but unless I am mistaken; A = January B = February C = March D = April E = May F = June G = July H = August I = September J = October K = November L = December Thanks, in advance for letting me know if I am wrong.

No "I" for month would mean OP´s distributor is a 24 Nov 1967 distributor...for a 4bbl manual transmission 1968 GTO.
