Cometics. .051" thick 4.20 bore because I run aluminum rods and 13.5 to 1 cr. Same bore as you 4.185.

ROL HG31320HT is what we use is most all builds. In Racing apps we use the Corteco High Performance Gasket. John Angeles also runs this gasket. It is .038 thick.

I used Felpro 1016 gaskets on my 463 with no problems. 13.25 to 1 with iron heads and 14.5 to 1 aluminum heads.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a quick question for Ace on this subject.

I have been using the ROL HG31320HT gasket for the last couple of years. They seem to work real well except somewhere between 105 to 130 passes they are coming apart between the exhaust valves at cylinders 3,5 and 4,6 putting water in the cylinders. I think they came in Corteco boxes the last time I ordered them from you. Are the Corteco High Performance Gaskets you are talking about a different part number? If so what is the part number and will they hold up better than the ones I'm using? Or do I just need to continue order 2 sets at a time and change them out in the middle of the season? Thanks.

Cometic head gaskets here, 810 passes and counting, with slightly less than 13/1 static compression...

In the past everytime I removed a Felpro gasket, the area between the two center exhaust valves looked cooked...

Fel Pro worked great for us up to about 900 hp. We're using Flatout coated copper gaskets now and are also using them in the funny car engine build.

We have o-rings in the head, receiver grooves in the block.
The gaskets are solid copper with Flatout's RCC coating on them.

Default For balls to the wall racing

I run solid deck. Solid surface heads. O-ring the block. 0-ring the heads with about .040 offset. Flatout Copper gaskets with coating.

Default THIN gaskets?

I recently had some head bolts on a fresh KRE head rebuild loosen up. Was using ROL gaskets (the cheapie ones) and Dave at SD discouraged those for his CNC heads. Upon retorque, they seem to be okay.

Here's a related question: Anyone know of a THIN (.020" range) head gasket for ponchos (to say, on a stock-type engine, bring the quench tighter when the pistons are down the hole at TDC)?
