Hey folks,

Very long story that I will try and condense. Found a guy to rechrome a set of front and back 69 Buick bumpers. Spoke with him- at length- about his process, etc. So, I sent a PERFECT (pit free, rust free, damage free) front bumper and a rear bumper core to him. One month became two, and so on.
There was ALWAYS a story every time I spoke with him. 'They are being stripped now', 'they are being chromed', 'chrome came out lousy so they are being rechromed'. Then came fake tracking numbers. Then lies- 'I was in the hospital', 'you spoke to my brother' and so on. I then did a BUNCH of research under the name of who showed up on caller ID when I spoke with him the first time.... My heart sank. He was using a different name and his wife's paypalp account. I found he had ripped off DOZENS of other people. After threatening him with legal action, sending him demand letters, etc, he agreed to a full refund and return of my bumpers. He said he is 'out of the chroming business' and is 'broke'- which I found out is an outright LIE.
So, he sends this:

Returned it. TWO months later, he sends a MO for $100 and a rechromed rear bumper back. Now he is not answering his phone and has dissappeared. We're coming up on a YEAR now...

I am asking for two things if possible.

1. Give old Juan a call at 1-626-941-4133. When I threatened to post my poor experience with him, his whole attitude changed and he wanted to do whatever he could to keep me from posting this.

2. Keep your eyes open at swap meets out on the WEST COAST. He has a Spanish accent- as he is from Mexico. Drives a WHITE VAN and has a BUNCH of other names: JT Chrome, Chrome, Chrome 4 U, Bumpers and Grilles, Chromabonito, Gensho_1, etc. He usually travels with his brother and son. I DO NOT WANT ANY OF YOU TO BE SCREWED LIKE MANY OF US HAVE BY JUAN.

I would love to sue him, but that would mean flying out to California. He's been sued before, but he never paid the judgement. That's an awful lot of money to eat..
