Default What engine diaper works best on stock block/chassis?

Wondering which engine diaper I should buy. I'm running a stock block/chassis, 71 A body, stock motor mounts, Canton kickout pan, glide, 2" D port headers, mini-starter from SD. I'm most concerned about the fit around the balancer and flexplate (I think ....).

What are people running and happy with? Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome.

Thanks
Steve

Thumbs up

I used a DRE for a BBC with motor mounts. Fits perfect. Only thing I had to do was cut the front (about 2" if I remember)and round it and re-sew it for the Pontiac front pan contour. Canton pan. I also sent it back with marked areas where i want more heat shield material near the header tubes. I have custom 2 1/8" into 2 1/4" header pipes. It's tight. LOL.

Agree. Contact DRE. They built mine for my 68 Bird.

I was thinking of asking the same question here earlier today. I stopped at the local speed shop today and looked at a universal one. It looked more for a dry sump pan to me. I was thinking a diaper shoud be made with a sump so it fits tight to the pan. How exactly are you guys attaching the diaper to your Pontiac engine. I don't think header bolts would work to good. I have a front and midplate and was thinking maybe of making a bracket that bolted to the stock motormount locations. Anyone have some pictures of your engine on the engine stand with the diaper on?

Many thanks,
Todd

Any reason why your not thinking about building a pan instead of a diaper?

Default Diaper vs. Pan

Here are some Diaper pics and some Pan pics.

Diapers are a real pain. Build a pan.

I agree w/ Dick. If you have room spend your time/money on a pan. I have a pan on my dragster and it takes 2 minutes to remove. My custom made DRE diaper on my Bird takes 15 mins to remove....

Would there be much weight difference between pan & diaper?
