Red face 1005 cu. in. Sonny's Engine in Production!

1005 cu. in. Sonny's Engine in Production!

Sonny Lenard is building a new 1005 cu. in. engine for a customer. This is, we believe, the first 1000+ cubic inch engine for drag racing. Details to follow soon!!

I was assuming it would still be a 2v head considering all the other Sonny's Hemi stuff is. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 3v or 4v configuration though.

Although I agree with you, I do remember watching Art Arfons dragrace the Green Monster with its 1,710 c.i. Allison way back in 1956.

Arfons Mill photos are hilarious to so much engine and so little car. Rear engine is a good thing there.

No replacement for displacement. Each of those cylinders about equals one whole engine in a rice burner.

John Deere made some 2 cylinder engines with 6 inch bore and stroke. Can only imagine what 8 would sound like. Not the same but fun to think about........
