Default Gas Price check

No one seems to be too upset this time around, maybe it's because they've been gradually raising gas prices, maybe it's the Mideast diversion, maybe it's too many other distractions in this economy, but we just took another hit around where I live.

I filled up for $3.14 (regular) at a tollway oasis on Tuesday. Now in my town, Shell, BP, Mobil, etc, are $3.55 ($3.89 for premium). They're expecting to hit $4.00 soon, and it's not even the "Spring/Summer mixture" for emissions yet, which usually makes the price go up another .25 cents.

Went from 3.11 to 3.36 on Wednesday.
Then up to 3.47 today.

I just missed my chance to top off when it was 3.11 by about ten minutes. Drove by my usual station and saw it was still 3.11, but I had seen 3.08 the day before at a Speedway that was three miles out of my usual territory. Drove over there, and they had already changed to 3.36. Turned around and hurried back, but I was too late.
Still had half a tank, so I figured I could last it out until it dropped back a dime or so, like it usually does 3-4 days after the initial spike. But, nooooooooh.
Looks like fluctuating prices are going away for a while.

As I posted earlier Friday Douchebagorama thread... Gas around here skyrocketed again overnight. 3.199 is the norm for Regular. Shell tho wants to play hog.... 3.269, and the highest I've seen for them is 3.399. Forget about Premium.

I crossed over to Deepwater NJ this morning and filled the Jeep plus 2 5 gallon gas cans... 3.099 for Regular. Internet said the Citgo I went to was supposed to be 2.999. Not! Oh well, still saved a little. This afternoon the wife was out and said she saw most places at 3.269 and 3.399. I'm just glad we're not still living up in Northern NY where we had to use fuel oil for heating the house.

It's gonna get worse unless someone steps in and stops the speculation that's running rampent and driving prices up. What's it's going to be like for food prices in the grocery stores God only knows. Diesel prices that I've saw here today were at 3.899.

3.29 was the highest I've seen so far. We can get pissed but nothing we can do about it. I think most of the country is exhausted with all this.

What ties my shorts in a knot is the fact we're selling Alaskan oil that we could be using to keep prices down here. Let India and China buy the expensive Arabian crap.

"Honey I spent $60 this morning on the way to work."
"On what?"
"I gassed up the van."

A day later it was up 11 cents a gallon to $3.25
I think the gas stations lead and lag the wholesale prices to boost profits.

$60 Is that all? 70+ every time i get in the wife's Tahoe(that's the only time she lets me drive it LOL) I know for a FACT gas stations raise the price before they pay the higher price and keep it high until at least two tankers full after the price drops.
