Need advise.
I'm building a 69 gto ram air 3 4 speed car that I was going to install a complete original 428 carb to pan but engine needs rebuild. At this point I decided to install a 70 block built to ram air 3 specs that has been completely rebuilt. It has a set of 48 heads but I want to save them for a different project. So I'm thinking of using the 62 heads and intake from the 428. Problem is the 428 is all number matching carb to pan. Block A249 Intake A289 Heads A289 and A299 7029268 carb 1111959 dist. How rare is this engine and should I split up. Engine came out of a 69 Grand Prix SJ. |

I'm not sure how rare or valuable the 428 is. Probably worth keeping together but what would you do with it if you kept it together anyway? Find a 69 SJ to restore?
I'd say use the parts but I do know once the 428 gets split up you probably won't put it back together again. |

428 is highly sawed after. Good fit between the 400 and 455. It was also only produced for three years 67 68 69.

As for your complete 428, it's probably worth a few bucks to the right guy. Will you ever find that guy? I'd say list in the classifieds, maybe even list it on Ebay- with a reserve you can live with. If it doesn't sell then you break it up and use the parts with a clean conscience. Honestly, the parts are probably worth more individually than as a complete assembly anyhow.
