Last time I was in the theatre there was loud talking all through the movie. Just when an important/critical part was coming up, the person in front of us was doing such a loud narrative to the person next to them that I couldn't hear the movie. Similar loud talking was taking place the previous couple of times. That was about 6 years ago. I may never go to another theatre again.

We always go during matinee hours. Get in for less than $15 for both of us and then try to limit ourselves to two drink and bring our own snacks if we can, otherwise it's $20-$30 just for snacks and drinks.

Did you do 3D? My 2 boys and I did the non-3D Cars and it was $36, the place was still packed. We're thinking of doing Transformers at the local drive-in, not many drive-ins left. Hopefully they'll have car load night, I remember hiding in a few trunks in my lifetime!

How do you expect the actors, directors, and producers, etc to survive on their paltry tens of millions of dollars if you don't continue to support them. Don't they deserve cost-of-living increases too?

We went and saw the new Pirates at the Zeus Digital. Only 50 seats in the theatre???? Wife 2 kids and I were the only ones in the brand new place. $20 for all 4 on MOnday at 1:00. It was like a private showing. We always smuggle in our own drinks & vittles. It was $4.60 for an apple juice. The kids laughed at how stupid that was. At 7 & 12 even they wont fall for it. It has gone too far when a 7 year old girl knows it is too crazy to even ask for.
I predict their fond memories will be: "Dad, you remember when that big new theatre was so stupid they asked for $4.60 for apple juice... and now they are outta business because they couldn't sell any?"

Movie prices these days is the reason I wait until what I want to see comes out on DVD. Might be a long wait but at least I can watch it in comfort and have all the snacks I want on the cheap... including popcorn. And, best of all I can watch the movie over and over again or replay to take another look at something I didn't catch the first time.
Besides... you never know what you'll catch sitting in those dirty theater seats. You know what fish do in water. Well, I've seen what some punks do in theaters and it ain't very nice.

I took 3 kids ( 2 were mine) to Cars2 last night. We have a place called Chunkys where they serve food etc and you sit in big leather reclining Cadillac seats at a table. Bet I spent $75 total for a really fun night out, some great pics with all of us in 3D glasses. The money is nothing when you compare it to what we spend on tools, gas for our cars, parts ETC

My local theatre does a special on Tuesday nights where it's like half price to get in. There is a few places like that around town that does a 2 for tuesday deal. Movies, resteraunts etc... Might check to see if they do that.

I hadn't been to the movies for ages..so long in fact I can't remember.
But, a few months back I went and saw a double feature of American Graffiti and a remastered version of Two Lane Blacktop. It was showing at a groovy old art deco theatre from the 30's called the Astor...it was great, when I bought the ticket I actually asked if it was for both movies! Cost $15 or so iirc. I bought a can of Jim Beam before the movie that wasn't a complete rip off either. The choc-top ice cream was a bit of a let down quality and size wise for the price though. No modern amusement games etc. to be seen, which was nice. They even had the theatre's original old projector on display in the foyer to check out too. To top it off Two Lane Blacktop was even better quality than I expected too, it definately seemed to be a cut above the latest DVD versions in clarity etc. All in all, we had a great night that was cheaper than I had anticipated.

Regular price here is $9.50 for an adult. They have a combo, $10 for 2 large drinks and a popcorn. What a deal.
