I am looking for a 73 SD T/A or Formula.

Many of you have been following my 7-year long thread on the preservation/restoration of my 72 Trans Am, 455HO, four speed. Well, like most people who finish a jigsaw puzzle, I don’t know what to do with it now that’s done. So I am looking for my next endeavor: a 73 SD.

If any of you SD owners out there are interested in my completely finished, 72 T/A, a car with its entire, original, born-with drivetrain – engine, M22, 3.42 rear, etc, I am happy to consider your SD.

Briefly, my T/A was a really nice, complete, running, California car before I started. It was sold new at Reliable Pontiac in Roseville, CA in December 1971. I spent a great deal of time and effort preserving any and all original markings and finishes. As you an see from the photos, the entire underside of the car is still covered in its original factory applied red primer and overspray.

There are two restoration threads that I have been posting to since 2004. The one here at PY is 72 pages long with 80,000+ hits. The one over at Yenko.net is 117 pages long with over 400,000 hits. (People tend to “discuss” things a bit more over there) :-)

This car is completely sorted. Everything works as original (if not better). The engine pulls strong all the way through the power band. The R12-equipped A/C blows frigid. The car runs at 170 degrees in 90+ degree weather with the A/C on full blast, The 7042273 carb is properly tuned and jetted and runs strong with no bogs, skips or flat spots. The car is scary fast and strong and rides/handles like a brand new car.

The restoration was featured in two consecutive issues of Hemmings Muscle Machines (Dec 2010 and Jan 2011) and was recently photographed by High Performance Pontiac.

But seriously, I would rather trade and not deal with money issues/sales taxes on any SD car I later find. If it's a trade, it's considered a "like kind exchange" by the tax man.

I have over $105K into the seven year resto-palooza of this car and I know I wouldn't get anything near that in a sale, so the next best alternative is to find someone who has grown tired of a red, white or green SD T/A (or any color SD Formula) and wants a perfect white/blue 4-speed 72.

But in answer to your original question....Yes.

You have a great car Steve and I figured limiting yourself only to a trade would decrease your options. It will be a long shot to find a super duty owner that would want to trade due to most have owned their cars for years and know how hard it is to find another.
Having cash in hand would allow you so many more options regarding color, trans, opts.....let alone most sellers in these times are after one thing. Green American CASH!

I would love to entertain the thought however at this time Im shopping for a new home and that has precedence.

Sorry Steve but i wouldn't have near the cash to make up the difference on the Charger. I wouldn't mind having it at all.
The HO is tempting though.

I have a SR 455SD block caps and crank. a real 432 no games. i am also restoring a 72 455 4 speed TA with a few options. I know of only 1 1973 sd in Calgary AB with the wrong engine in it but he will not sell so.. let me know i just sold my house so i am planning on sellng me SD455 (SR) and my 1970 Ram IV SR block I have had both forever ... and so if there is a person that needs them that would be great
