Default daughter leaving me for college.

Yep tonight is her last night under my roof until either Thanksgiving or Christmas break.
So to all those who have done this before me, how lonely does it really get?
She is going to the State University of New York, College of Enviornmental Science and Forestry @ Syracuse University. 12 hours from Indy.
She will be in the SU marching band. I am going to try and make a couple football games this year.
Should be fun and exciting for her. Very proud of her accomplishments to be accepted to Suny Esf.

Thanks for the tip. No car her freshman year. Her mom is driving her. 70 east to Columbus, 71 north to Cleveland turn right and ? My Dr's agreed that I should sit this one out. My neck just will not handle the 12 hour ride.

I heard once that God made teenagers so it would be easier to say goodbye!

Sometimes I believe it!

My youngest is now a senior in college. I don't mind her being at college, texting and Skype have made it easy. However she went to Chile this year for 5 months, THAT was hard and I was really happy when she came back!

My daughter is getting married in October, just before she turns 20. She didn't do college, but is currently hurting my wallet in wedding/reception cost.

Makes ya feel old-ish, huh?

Mine just left yesterday, but she is going back for her senior year. Six more months and I'm done. December 16th I fly down and drive home with her for good.

My oldest daughter left for college in the fall of '05. When my wife and I left her standing in the dorm room parking lot, she was standing there crying, my wife was crying and I was.........fine.. She graduated in '09, got a teaching job and married her HS sweetheart that fall. They just bought thier first home. My youngest daughter left for college in '08 and is currently getting her masters degree. It was a bit easier saying goodbye to her but it still hurt. House is alot bigger and quieter now, but its the natural order of things. When they throw dirt on me someday, I know I left the world a couple of good ones.

We took my daughter to college on the 15th (freshman) - now that i'm back home i've found it unexpectedly hard to deal with - you keep expecting her to come out of her room or show up for a chat - and she doesn't. She's excited about being at college which really helps me to deal with it a little better. Got another daughter that's about to be a senior in high school so next year we get to do it all over again.

I got a couple more years to go before my oldest goes to college. I am guessing that it seems hard at first but in the back of your mind between the sadness and happiness she is making something of herself. She will learn about being on her own and when that day comes she graduates you will be even happier that she is your child, and very proud of her! Good for her to be going to school!

My oldest son is starting his third year of University.. He's met a nice girl there who I see has had some influence on him.. but.. nothing bad..he's a bright kid.. and she's a very smart girl...

My youngest son is starting his first year of University in a couple of weeks. .I think he's a bit nervous.. but.. he's also close enough that he'll be coming home on most weekends to play hockey and I'm sure bring his laundry and stock up on some food and money! hahaha

Either way.. if you're worried about not hearing from them.. they do stay in touch whenever they need money! You can almost predict when that will be! hahahahah

Let's hope they have a great experience and lots of success.

take care
