'61-'62 pg parts
Looking for parts tranny, tempest transaxle powerglide . Need front pump and cover and shaft coupling the most at the moment for another forumers car. Would love an entire tranny less convertor, axle and shafts to ease shipping costs. Let me know what you can do. Thanks!!

Tempting, though '63's are different. If you still have it when I get out there early next year for work, I may look into it. Thanks!!
Funny how these are everywhere when you don't need one, then nowhere when you do.

I am swapping out my 62 Transaxle for another one with low miles in about a week. The problem with the trans is that once it warms up it drops down to low and stays there. I was told its either a bad vacuum modulator or broken spring in valve body. I will part out whatever you want from it.

Guiltyho, If i'm not mistaken, i believe there is an electric solenoid in the 63 transaxle that needs to be hooked up. I'm not real familiar of the differences, but will keep it in mind. Shipping the matching axle would cost a mint as well.I'd like to see a forumer that needs it more for their v8 setup than in a four-banger setup i'd use it in.
Gary, my blue car does the same from time to time. I'm narrowing it down governor,or vacuum modulator valve sticking. It may even be my valve body gaskets leaking some. On the way home from work once, it stuck in first, i drove it a little hard around the block in drive and it shifted into second. Was fine for another few months. Either way, shipping is going to be deciding factor on yours as well. I'd like the most complete as possible. Removing the convertor input shafts will help in costs and not needed. Let me know when you get the old out. Thank you both for your responses. Just wish distance wasn't a major issue in shipping cost and risk of damage during transit.

Scott, I have 3 different 61-62 transaxles here at the house. Do you want just the trans?? No diff or converter?? One is missing the pan & throttle valve. Let me know.If your back in the neighborhood, you can pick it up. Make me an offer I can't refuse!!

Hi Keith,
I don't need convertor, diff nor the pan or throttle valves. Mainly the front pump, front pump cover, housing and some inner organs. Had a coupling shatter in budsrfin' car and it took out most of the front of the tranny. Apparently the tv cable hadn't been hooked up in a while and would drop in gear pretty hard. Just trying to get his car out my yard without scavenging from my own cars. I have no idea when I'd make it out there again, I don't suppose you'd be interested in mailing me one, don't cheat yourself on shipping(oughta be cheaper than from New Jersey or atlanta, sorry guys), and what you want for it. If shipping may be an issue, I am always up for finding a reason to meet up with you again the next time I'm in 'zona. Thanks Keith!!

Thanks Keith!! I'd appreciate it!
Gary, just for grins, take off the vacuum modulator and slowly pull out the valve that is behind it. Alot of times, the end is all gummy and built up and starts to stick when it dets warm. My tranny guy here says a majority of the problems with these are are remedied with a good valve body cleaning.

I pulled out the valve behind the vacuum modulator and no build up. Tranny is coming out Saturday.

Wow, bummer Gary.
When installling the other tranny, you may want to leave the pan unsealed untill it is up to ensure the shift control cable properly engages when you install it. I don't recall which gear it needs to be in, but if not correct, you will not be able to shift at all, and may even start in gear when you think it is in neutral. When installed with pan off, if you cannot shift into low, it is incorrect. The ball of the shift cable must position into the shift fork assembly in way to capture itself. Very difficult to describe.

Ended up replacing everything from drum to drum. My cross-member was rusted out pretty bad and the one my friend had was rust free and only had 44K miles on it. Trans works great and car is finally on the road again!!
Trans was not in gear whe we hooked up the shifter cable. |

Yes on my daily driver. We are going to show it for the next few weeks at some local Pontiac shows, then drive it daily.
