Default My son got his first hole shot in Motocross

My son Nick (12 yr) has been riding for a few years but always rode just for fun .

He finally decided to try racing , and he's having a blast ! (it will be a few years til he can drag race a Pontiac)

He entered his 2nd race on Sunday on his KX 85 . Took 3rd , first race he finished 2nd and 7th in 85 senior class.

Check out the Vid >http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=7ymOJjV9KvE

Anyway, he got his first hole shot and was pretty excited .

Very nice. Take one of your best pics of the day and enlarge it so he can place it next to his trophy. There may be plenty more in the years to come. Nothing like the first one! Congratulations!

Being a kid growing up in the '70's, motocross was the hot ticket. Everyone raced and developed mechanical skills that would last a lifetime.
Over the past three years i have taken a step back in time to relive my youth, as I am involved with vintage motocross racing. Our events also include modern bike classes which expose the younger generation to what I call the "golden age" of motocross. Given that, I see the kids on modern bikes who have no mechanical skills as Dad is the one who preps the bikes, while the kid os off doing other things.
Please do the kids a favor and involve them with bike maintenance.....they will appreciate your time and knowledge as they get older.

I wished my parents would have let me do that when I was 12. Instead I got a paper route to work.

I completly agree on the kids "working" on the bikes .

My son is learning alot , changing his own oil and cleaning filter and bike after he rides.
