Default Endura delamination problem

I reciently had my 69 Judge painted (6-months ago) base coat clear coat, about 3-months ago noticed a split in the top of the nose of my endura bumper 2" long & about 1/8" deep.

Took a closer look noticed a blister on the other side of nose about the size of a half dollar also feels like 1/8 deep, deeper than the paint !

I have also noticed at the top edges & bottom edges looks like the rubber is separating.

Is thier somthing I can do to fix my Endura, or should I find a replacment before I have it re-painted.

Jay

You need to take it to someone who knows what their doing. Probably can be fixed but will have to be stripped properly then repaired with the right components. Most body shops use the wrong products and weeks or months later after you've paid good money for the job, you get what your experiencing. Hope the rest of the car doesnt do the same thing. Check my website, we specialize in GTO's, but i dont know how close you are. Educate yourself with some research on this board and you might take it back to the guy who did it and tell him what products to use and maybe he will fix it for you. Good luck.

I read an article on what products to use, etc etc. Me and guy who did my paint job meticulously followed the instructions and got the exact products as prescribed.

That was 6 years ago and there's not even a hint of a crack in any of the paint and the car has been in my garage in Michigan ever since.

I thought it was on this board somewhere but I'm not sure. I'll look for it in my old papers - since I moved out here so many things have gotten misplaced from back home. But I'll give it a try.

Sounds like filler on top of the endura mat'l.

I keep waiting to hear about the first endura to fail from age, like 69 bonneville noses and early 70's vette bumpers.

So far so good!

Default Endura Blues

In the May 98 issue of The Legend Vol. 16 # 5, there's a decent article titled Rubber Nose Blues. It has some good info and history. Also in Muscle Car Review April 92 might have some info as well. Also check w/OREJUDGE here on these boards. He has all the current up to date materials and info you will need to restore your Endura.

There's a late 80's/early 90s HPP article on endura repair also.

May be outdated info, I don't know. Haven't fixed an endura bumper yet myself.

I just searched on google, here it is: http://www.goatsgarage.com/bumpfrm1.html

I meant to post this a while back, a company that restores Endura bumpers and has a restoration section (guide online) plus ones for sale.

I will Explain and show some pictures of the best way to repair a 70 endura bumper. First I sand with 80 grit on a DA or sand blast. Still hit with 80 after sand blast. Then I use UPOL 706 Strong hold plastic bumper repair. I like to fill the back side ot the bumper that aligns with the hood and fenders to stop most or all of the flex as it is not needed, this helps from cracking the paint. DO not use and adhesion promoters or wax and grease wash, keep clean by blowing off only. The 706 will fill minor cracks but if they are deep v out the crack first and sand with 80 then 706. I use this to build the bumper to fit fenders and hood up to 1/4 inch as the bumpers shrink over time. I rough out with 80 grit and finish with 100 as it feathers better with 100. Prime with PPG Desothane CAP 400, most flexable primer anywhere. If that is not avalible use PPG D822 global primer, I add flex agent to 822. When you sand the bumper try not to break through, if that happens ,reprime, do not paint over bare spots.
