Could someone please answer a few questions about the correct style/placement of the intake manifold bolts/studs on a 1972 455HO.

1. What style bolt would be used in the positions that only use a bolt.

2. Approximately how far from the cylinder head should the studs extend that attach the intake/crossover? These are 3/8-16 thread where the washer/nut would go on them aren't they?

3. Not sure my diagram of the placement of the fasteners is correct.

Hey Kyle:

1) Style "C"

2) See attached photos. 3/8"-16 is correct

3) Your diagram is dead-nuts on.

4) Note that some of my fasteners are incorrect (ARP) pieces.

Some pics of my HO

Last pic is of an original base bracket. I modified mine to closely resemble that piece. Norwood has repopped the piece that goes b/n the studs, a 72 only bracket between the washers on the pass side. Note the original paint on the driver side crossover.

I am in search of the correct studs that attach the crossover (1972 455HO) to the intake/heads. I believe they are GM part # 483820 and identified as a 3/8" x 16 x 2 15/64" stud. (4 required). I have searched on that part Number (to no avail) looked at Fastenal, AMK, and two other Hardware distributors, but can't seem to locate a threaded stud with a tapered top (as shown in Pat's photo) - attached.

Does anyone know of a source for this type of stud. I am trying to be as exact as I can be in this restoration.
