speaker wire
If you split one speaker wire, is the one with white stripe considered positive? The other is solid black.

You can do it either way, but best if you don't cross them. I've always used the one with the stripe to go to the + side.

You just need to be consistent, i.e. the color you use for positive on one end you should also use as positive on the far end. For speaker wire only..... house wiring is different where black and white colors have specified meanings.

speaker wire
to go along with the lines of house wireing. If it has a white strip on 1 lead and just copper for the other. I'll put the Copper Hot the striped as ground. You can do either as long as you keep all the same IMO.

The speaker lead, not the wire, determines polarity. The electical impulse going through the wire doesn't know whether or not the wire has a stripe on it, or is red, green, or black.
