Ok I have a 67 gto with a '70 400 bored 60 over with a rebuild 1200 miles ago. edelbrock alum intake elec choke carb. HEI ignition, 10.75 to 1 compression. runs on premium. Car has not been driven for 18 mos. Has been started here and there, last time was over 3 mos ago. Gas is old, Im sure but only 1/8 tank is in there. It smells like its getting gas and it cranks over fine forever with stout battery. never pops/fires a bit though.
Can you give me an organized way to check things to get this car moving out of xwifes garage so I can sell it immediately? I will take 18000 cash and no less. this is a rust free car with no damage and a fair paint job. 4 sp, posi, 425 hp, hooker headers, cragar s/s wheels etc. Interior needs a little stuff like door panels, dash pad, front seat covers, maybe a better steering wheel. Thanks, Dan

1. First thing to check is that you're getting 12 volts to the HEI terminal.
2. If yes, pull a plug and crank the engine to see if you're getting a spark. You could just put an inductive timing light on the plug wire if you have one and leave the plug in. 3. If no spark, replace the module inside the HEI. 4. If still no spark pull off the distributor cap on the HEI and look for cracks. 5. Coils do go bad but rarely. If you have spark and fuel then it has to at least pop now & then. Keep us informed after trying these. Sorry about you & your wife. regards

Put gas in it!!!
I had the same thing happen to me and my dad asked, " Does it have gas"? I said, "Sure it does". It had about a 1/8 of a tank of gas. Well, the old man was right. This happened 20 yrs ago and I have never forgotten this simple lesson. Start with the basics. Don

Yep, module inside will go bad or you'll find the wiring is broken. Replace it, it's not that hard to do. And replace the condenser too to be safe and not have to pull it again to change it after replacing the module. Had that happen a couple of times with my 79 Formula FB.
If you've had the distributor out, make sure it's not 180 degrees off.

make sure that it is getting gas and spark. Put some in the tank, it could have evaporated. Then make sure you're getting spark by using a timing light or pull a plug, ground it to the block and look for spark.
Start with the basics, gas and spark. Greg |

My brother's 69 Judge sat for about 3-4 months once, and when he went to drive it, it wouldn't start. After checking everything he could think of, he pulled the fuel line and collected some of the gas in a jar. He tried to light it, but it wouldn't burn. You could hold a lighter to it and it would never catch fire.....just something to check....
