[Mechanic No. 4]

Hi guys, I'm working on a '66 GTO with Rallye gauges. I'm trying to get the oil pressure gauge to work properly. The gauge itself seems to be operational, With the key ON and the sender unplugged it reads 60+. With the wire grounded it reads 0. The owner had a NAPA sending unit installed (P.N. OP6636). At idle the gauge reads about 45psi. but as RPM's increase, drops off to 0. The oil pressure has been checked with a mechanical gauge and it always at least 40psi. at any RPM or temperature. I'm thinking this is the wrong sending unit. I have not been able to locate one for a '66 from anyone. Any ideas? Oh one more thing, this car has a '65 Rallye cluster installed. Would that change anything? Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give you as much info. as I have. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Most likely it's the wrong sender. The members on this board have found that a company called Lectric Limited is a good source for senders.

Ames performance has the correct sender for the 66 cars. There is the "correct" looking one for and then there is a cheaper version (pn M195D)that looks similar for 16 bucks. I got my 16 dollar one in the mail yesterday and it works like a champ!
