ok.....I realize the other thread was moved because it was a "for sale" kinda thing. But I'd still like to have pics of the headers here because well.....it is the boosted section! lol. This is the finished set of headers waiting for collectors to arrive on a 2nd gen frame. The drivers side is angled down to make transitioning to a cross over easier.

What gauge piping used on this kit? That is a pretty nice build, I'll let you know later if mine don't work out. Thanks for bringing this out.

Ed, I'll be honest.....I wish you luck on putting your set together. It was no joke making it all fit, and took Ron a good bit of time even with his experience. I know they look simple, but they werent. Its 16g tube.

Mike, they are for sale if you look in the performance classifieds. But I cant talk too much about that here or they'll move this thread as they did the other. lol. Just pics and general questions here. I'll PM you though.

Bends look really good, was that done on a Harbor freight bender??? Just kidding they look really nice.

Will the angled down setup on the driver's side work if you want to run twins?

Are those headers set up to carry the weight of the turbo(s) by themselves, or do you need to build a bracket to hold the turbo(s)?

I would love to build a turbo motor for my 74 T/A if my funds (read wife) allowed

Thanks...it will work for twins depending to some extent on placement and size of your turbos. Keep in mind that with turbos you often have to make compromises and cut or remove items like inner fenderwells, radiator core supports, accessories on the front of the engine, etc. A lot will depend on your needs, but yes they were designed with the idea of also using them for twins. There is also the possibility to angle them less if needed.

But the answer to your other question is no...........they cannot support even small turbos. My 88mm turbo if I had to guess weighs 50 lbs. Go over a bump and it would crack a weld. They need to either be supported on brackets attached to the heads or the frame.

Its very rewarding to accomplish a turbo install...it isnt easy. It takes imagination and skill. The skill part can be farmed out to other people, but you still have to make it work.

. I have been playing with turbo DSMs for the past 14+ years, and this is my latest (and last) one:

The header was designed and built to carry the turbo by itself (it is only a 70 mm though.) We'll see how long it will last

I don't want to end up having my 4-banger beat my T/A (which it will currently do without any effort

) so eventually I want to build a serious turbo motor for it

Just eyballing it I'd say they will more than likely fit a '63 Tempest with stock V8 mounts. Lots of room around the K-member. Definitely won't fit my car though because of the rack and pinion

Thanks James...is that the same or a different frame than the 64-67 uses? If the issue with your rack steering is the angle down on the drivers side set, we can change that and make it straighter. You know you want a set! lol

Totally different. '63 Tempest has a removable K-member with all of the front suspension attached.

Received my headers this week. they are mild steel d port with 2.5 v-bands installed. I wish I had these back in 07 when I built my hot side. They will be coated and used on a future project where I might decide to step up the boost a bit.
