After thoughts of a BBC or an LS3 swap in my 78 . I have decided to rebuild my older 400Pontiac engine. I spoke to the builder and he recommended a stroker kit and aluminum heads. Should be about 525HP.
So what have you used for transmissions in this example? Converter advice would be helpful also. I was thinking 3:73 gears. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Mike

I'm using a Phoenix Trans. TH 350 and making 550 hp and a Continental "Jim Hand" 10" convertor. Mine was a hair tighter than I would have liked but close enough.
3.73s are going to be a bit much if you do any highway weven with tall tires. 3.42s are pretty good all around.
