Check this out. Wish I had the money, I'd do it to my Tempest! Pontiac power of course. If this has already been posted, my apologies. Still think it's worth a 2nd look! |

had the opportunity of seeing this car in person , it is nice , but the tires in back kind of give it away , and if I remember right he did sell it .

I saw it on Hot Rod PowerTour 2007. Honestly i think its a lot of work and money to put into a car and leave it lookin kinda ugly. I know its the 'sleeper' look but unless it sees a lot of street racing is it really worth building a car like this.

http://youtu.be/NVKt1rebIi8 This races at our Flashlight Drags at the local airport. Too bad it isnt Pontiac powered but most of the guys who see the engine dont even know its a BBC.

Sorry, but that Nova looks like a race car with bad paint and whitewalls painted on the drag radials. It's just got way too many tell-tale signs visible without even having to look close.

The guy doing the test drive sure is in love with it.
You'd think going around racing people on the street is a common way to make money. I like the looks of it but I wouldn't go that overboard with anything that was going to stay very humble looking. It kinda goes hand in hand with the highly glamorous street rods that have all the pretty go fast goodies, with no intention of ever getting properly thrashed on. |

Still a sleeper in my book.
My sleeper when I was building it. Not quite the same as that thing though! But a solid 450-500 hp (est) bench seat and column shifter with whitewalls and caps. The biggest problem I had/have is the noise. Its a dead give away when they sound like a dragster. |

I've had sleepers and darn fast ones over the years. My Project Budget Bomb was a great one out on Fridays or Saturdays on the street. Even before I put the NOS and swapped in better goodies it was great to run around it. White body with surface rust. Green fenders and a primer hood on a 70 LeMans with a 72 front end. It was darn ugly and dangerously fast. Tires? LOL forget having any last more than a few days if your roasting them for the crowds at the street race.

One of the best sleepers is this car:

To be a SUPER sleeper, gotta be a clapped-out 4 door hooptie, just like CH's above.

The Ford 4 door should have mudflaps on the front too, to complete the ruse.

That ford is a pretty good one.
The problem with sleeper building is the age of the cars. Really if you want to hide some thing really fast, and have not a soul suspect it's fast, it's going to have to blend with the majority of the cars on the street. Like right in the heart of the parabola of the masses of vehicals on the road. That Nova, is way out on the end - there's like none on the streets. I would eyeball that Nova if it did have a I6 - that's a cool old car and I never see those. I had thoughts of putting a 13b turbo in a chevette. Guess what; I'm not going to fool anyone - when was the last time you saw a Chevette? The problem is, that by the time one buys a common car for a fair price with specific intent of modding, it's already old. Then by the time you chop out the crumby fwd and sort out a rwd chassis that you can hide some serious power(350-500hp depending on weight), we pretty much got a car that is at least a decade old, probably older. It's pretty much a dead horse anymore; the sleeper. If you got car guys, they're gonna wanna know what's under the hood and spot the ques like tires, lope, and exhaust. If its road rage drivers, it's only gonna take a common fast car to get your lane and get away from them - nothing that needs built.
