With so many of these cars being "restored" I would keep it as a survivor. A good cleaning and maybe address a few of the "worst" appearing items. However no repop or NOS stuff just work with the original parts that the car was born with.
They are only original once. Makes me regret parting out a 70 Judge, RAIV, M21, 3.90 posi, Orbit Orange car years ago. That car had a long history of being abused. I had crossed paths with it many years befoer I owned it. Unfortunately by the time I got it the shortblock was repalced with a 455 and the RAIV top end (no wonder the kid could never keep it together running pump gas). Great Car for Sure.
Pretty sure i remember this Judge from when the daughter of the previous owner listed it for sale about 4-5 years ago. The details/particulars had to be unfolded a piece at a time - she only just knew that it was "a Judge" her father had owned for a long time. And "thought" he was perhaps the original owner. Another guy who knew the car and the father for a long long time - joined up on here and gave a good bit of history on the car. This new guy was actually the Original Owner of the car. Sold it to this guy who was his friend, in early-mid 70's. Sad old story we hear too often, he somewhat got stepped over on the first right of refusal that he had always been told he would get on the car - when/if time ever came. The father passed away somewhat unexepectedly , daughter ended up with it and almost immediately listed it on eBay. His first right of refusal sort of just turned out to be a chance to be the high bidder on eBay. ouch kinda sorta ... and ouch again Market was strong - He wasn't the high bidder. Felt really bad for the guy how that happened, but it happens and we all know the how's and the why's that go along with these things most times. Sort of a neat saga, that thread about this car from back then is on here somewhere. Its a strait up piece of well kept machinery. |

what a gorgeous car, any guesses on what it will take to buy it? The words "survivor" and "RAIV Judge" just don't go in the same sentance usually so I'm not sure what the market is for it?

Thanks King.
I was "thinking" it was about 2-3 years ago - but usually when i think 2-3 , it turns out being 4-5 years. So i improvised. Time flies and i wasn't a player on the car then or now. It would be neat to find the old thread tho. The original owner "might" appreciate another chance at it again. |

Do you think that's the original paint on this car?
In my opinion blue interior would be more desirable than 8 shades of beige. I've got an Atole GTO, that's a hard color to beat. Wish the timing was better for me, I'd love to have this car. I wonder if there is any paperwork on the dealer installed SR block??? Doug

Thanks for digging that up John.
it seemed longer ago - to me lol There was another thread about the car too. Where the original owner eventually chimed in. At first they / we didn't know it was an IV. Some clues were faintly visible in a couple pics, and questions started getting asked by folks etc ... and we just followed it along sorta. Then O.O. filled in some blanks etc ... Don't remember if it was in Judge section or in the Lobby |

I was also speaking with the lady selling the car on ebay last year. Funny to read the "Sky is falling" thread from that time when everyone seemed to think that this car actually sold for $40k (or close to that) just because that was where it closed on ebay. This car sold for allot more than that last year and the new owner did much more to take it to the next level. It is a very nice car!

Totally agree, it wont go cheap. Joe D's '70 RAIV Judge which is up for sale is the exact RAIV Judge that fueled my respect for roundport Pontiacs & my drive & eventual ability to own a few examples. One of my best friends growing up had a 5 year older brother (Ricky Sellers) who owned this particular atoll blue RAIV Judge from '78-late '80. It sat less than 2 blocks from my family's house & I got to ride in it a few times, though it didn't get driven a lot. As a daily driver, during this time, Rick owned one of the gaudy red white blue Free Spirit Centurys. After getting married, he traded the RAIV Judge back to the second owner for a late '70's 3/4 ton Ford window van (or cash for that van). That was late 1980. The Judge sat for many years and I inquired about it several times. Never heard the "original owner was promised first dibbs" story. As the 80's wound down, I personally tried buying this exact RAIV Judge, and as my luck would go, the owner was not inclined to sell it. I gave up, and in the early 90's eventually purchased a lucerne blue/blue M22 pink/orange/blue '71 Judge as a project to restore along with my adriatic blue 455 HO GT-37. Have always been a sucker for good looking roundport Pontiacs & blue with factory stripes...at least to me trumps all. as a final note, I cut the '71 Judge project loose a few years ago to a good friend & with no more lucerne blue Pontiacs in the fold, my '72 T/A will go back lucerne blue. JMO, but certain cars just "belong" a certain color, and its mighty hard to beat the atoll blue pink/orange/blue combo in a roundport '70 Judge.
