Default 74 GTO air cleaner base

Anyone have a 74 GTO air cleaner base laying around don't have a lot of cash. Been out of work disabled vet so reasonable prices please. It' one of two things I'm still needing the other is a good driver side hood hinge.

Probably going to be a hard find cheap. The base is the exact same base that's used on the '74 Trans Am (which is similar to the '73 TA base).

Is the '74 GTO base the same as a Firebird or a Grand Prix? I have heard conflicting stories.

If you are looking for correctness, there may be some differences in the Firebird bases, but functionally they will fit. When I was trying to figure out what would fit my 74 GTO, I tried the base off my 73 Formula on my 74 GTO and it fit perfectly. I couldn't find a correct one (for a 74 GTO or for an F body) for less than $100, so I ended up using one I found at a wrecking yard that came off of a Chevy of some kind (I got it for $5), but I don't care about originality, only function.

Any of the Grand Prix ones I have seen (73-77) will not fit; they don't have the drop base that the F body uses. However, my experience is far from complete, so there may be some GP ones that would fit....someone else will have to address that....

The Firebird 4-bbl base will work (as hard to find as the Trans Am unit). But you'll need the correct cover and valve cover pipe too.

I've got the correct top cover and valve tube but i have a 75 or later bottom which has the right depth but not the correct offset. Which of course puts the shaker too far up to the windshield and hits the hood. Thought it was original to the car when i bought it but it is definitely different as far as the offset goes. It seem the offset for the later TA's is opposite the offset of the 73 or74. I've compared in pictures but not on hand but you could see the offset was different. Anyone need a good 75 or later bottom LOL trade ya!!

Is it possible you have one for a 403 Olds engine? I know they are offset, but I thought it was to the side, not closer to the windshield. I am certainly not an expert on the various shaker bases used over the years...

To be honest i'm not sure which one i have. I just looked at the pic of the correct one and mine and saw the offset was opposite than the one i had. The one i have does push the shaker back and to the wrong side of the hood.

originality i'm far beyond that with the 455, m21 munsie 4speed. It was a 350 auto but just a rolling body when i found it and a bunch of sheet metal later she became quite a looker. I may do the junkyard thing myself i know the offset i need when i see it. After becoming a disabled vet and not working it has been difficult to do anything else to her but i do have the E heads, Harland sharps roller rockers, stud girdle, ram air longrams manifolds and sheet metal valve covers yet to put on.
Appreciate all the help guys..

Thanks i really appreciate it. Can't find any bases for 4bbl carbs around here since the last 4 yrs of crushing cars has been the fad around where i live. I've got another member also looking this is the only thing that troubles me with the finish of the car.
If you find one pm me.

I am going to be unloading a bunch of 74 parts, i just have to get everything together. My goat kind of is a little toasty right now. So I just have to go through what I am using and not. I do have an extra air cleaner base, along with a extra scoop and hood.

Default Air cleaner base

I would love to have the base if you have one extra but don't break up the set if you can get both sold together. Being I don't have alot of extra cash at the moment someone may have the cash u would want for the complete set.
It starting to look as if i'm going to have to build one. The only part I'm going to need to do that is the center part of the base, but if you can make me a great deal on a good base i'm interested.
thanks
God Bless
