Greetings, did the factory dip stick for the 68 TH400 have a holder welded to it to hold wires? I'm trying to see if the one in my spare parts fit my 68 FB. It has the mount for the bolt. It also has a piece with plastic, or rubber, inserts that looks like it held wires. Thanks for any information. Good day friends. Mike

The dipstick has a welded tab on the tube that bolts to the back of the motor, using same bolt that bolts the transmission to the motor. There is a separate tube for the starter wires.

Thank you. I Will try to post a photograph and see if I have the correct one. It's been so long since the tube was in the car. I also have dip stick tubes from other cars and trucks around this place. Thanks again friend. Mike in Oregon

the 67-69 TH400 dipstick is very scarce and odd looking. Lots of curves.

Greetings, I didn't get a chance to photograph the dip stick and tube today. I'm trying to get at the bolts on the PS pump on my GTO. However, I will try in the next day or so, and would appreciate it if someone can recognize if it's 68 Firebird or not. Thanks again friends, and my best wishes to you all. Mike

Good morning friends. Her are two photographs of the Transmission dip stick and tune. Are these from my 68 Firebird with the TH400? Thanks for any help. Mike in Oregon

Frank, thanks for the response. I have had other Pontiac's as well. SO it has to be from one of them. Maybe a 66 Le Mans with a 326? I do know I have a lot of 68 FB parts, down to most of the 68 front Disc brake parts. Again, thanks frank. And the pix would be a great help. Mike in Oregon

Hey Mike, here's a pic of a 1967 Firebird 400 Th400 dipstick. I can assure you 68 and 69 are the same, I have them all here at home.

Frank, thank you very much for posting the photograph. That's great, because I have the tube and stick that's correct for a 68 bird. Unlike the one I posted, the 68 is in warm, dry area of my shop. Thanks again. Mike
