Default 1970 Alternator 1100902 questions

I am starting to restore my 1100902 for my 1970 TA.

I have come across a difference on the back side cases. There seems to be three different designs for the area of the voltage regulator. Can anyone tell me what is the correct design for a 1100902 dated 0F11? I attached pics of each case style (case # 1, #2 or #3)

Also I find differences on the fans as well. I seem to have two different style fans. Again I attached a pic showing fan#1 and fan#2.

I have pictures of the 902 I sold with my 70 T/A as well as one on the shelf in the garage. Both have the rear case #3.

The alternator I still have does not have a fan, but the fan on the one I sold is the same as fan #1.

Case #3 is correct. Fan #1 looks correct except for the scallop cut into the edge of the widest blade.

Default fan

Is this the other fan? I have some if you need one, but they need plated. I probably have all the different fans if you need one. I am sure I have at least 6 different style original delco fans.

Well so far it seems that I need to locate a case#3. The pic I posted was from a internet pic I found. Anyone know a good source to locate alternator cases or parts?

As for the fan if someone else can confirm the pic of the fan Stellar posted, I will get one of those.

Thanks everyone for the info so far.....

I am not saying it is the correct fan, I am just showing another option. I think it is the one Functional shaker was refering to.

Stellar, I went back to my parts pile this afternoon and I did find the same fan that was in the pic you posted. It did not have that notch out as in the pic I posted. I think I am okay on the fan now. Thanks.

To sum up in my mind:

1100902 37amp 1970 open faced alternator (yes), rear case style#3 (yes/no?)
1100903 55amp 1970 open faced alternator (yes), rear case style#3 (yes/no?)
1100927 37amp 1971 open faced alternator (yes/no?), rear case style#3 (yes/no?)
1100928 55amp 1971 open faced alternator (yes/no?), rear case style#3 (yes/no?)

Case #3 is 1970 only (902 & 903). Case #1 was used in 1971 for the 927 & 928 alternators and later years as well (not sure how long). I think case #2 was used on later ones, after they stopped using case #1.

I should mention this thread too (Bill's (70RAlll) post near the end). And, my pulley is stamped with a "5".

Default door #4

Caution # 3 is not a 69 There are 2 similar ends compare this to #3. This is a 69 end. 1st pic is a 69 vet 1100859 2n and 3rd are of a 69 853 Look close there is a difference. Look where the threaded hole is on the back. 69 is flush with the case and later ones are raised and in a different location.

Good eye for detail Stellar!

I see what you are referring to. The threaded hole on the 69's are flush and at the 5:30 o'clock position, if you call the two wire electrical plug in 12 o'clock.

The 70's are at about 3:00 o'clock.

Why do I think this is going to become a needle in the haystack project????

Anyone have a 69 style back (flush mount) they'd be willing to trade for a 70 style?

Reviving an old thread...question about the 1971 open face 927 and 928 alternators. Of the ones I have seen, they have had the fan pictured in post #4. I have seen one February 71 dated 927 with fan #2 in post #1 on it that looks like an untouched original. This fan seems to be the one that I see on 1972 and later alternators. I am wondering if this fan might have been a running change on later dated 71 open face alternators. Has anyone looked at this or does anyone have later dated originals they could look at. I am just wondering what is correct.

Also, I have seen both 2-1/2 and 2-3/4 inch diameter pulleys on these alternators. The mpc says 2-3/4 but wondering if this is not necessarily 100% absolute.
