Factory Pontiac F-body set-up. Thought that version with the remote vac actuator ended after '77 models, but as you have posted, was still offered in '78. Have several such set-ups. '79, the vac actuator was bolted a rod set-up on the intake, similar deal on '80's & 81's.

when i picked up my 1979 firebird, (43,000 miles), it had a working setup with the 301. pretty cool in my opinion with no computer.

Yes, I've also seen that cruise vacuum actuator on the firewall like that on 77-78 Pontiac 400 firebirds/TA's. I don't know about earlier ones. The Olds 403's have it on the intake.
I've heard that the 4 speed cars weren't offered with cruise, but don't know how true it is. If is it true, then there was no cruise on 79 TA with 400's, since all of them were 4 speeds.

Looks right to me for a 78, I'm glad you posted these pictures. I took all this out of my T/A several years ago, now I kinda have an idea where all those parts go back too.

That set up is correct as mentioned in all posts. True no cruise on manuals. However, I just installed cruise on my 4spd car because I travel a lot with my car. It works perfectly. I was concerned about serging with the direct connection(no cushioning effect from converter). But no issues but obviously no safety on clutch. Acually, the servo cable doesn't have enough stroke to floor the car sort of speak, if you depress the clutch while cruise is on it will only go to about 3000 RPM. My idea was to get the cruise up and running and then install a kill switch on the clutch pedal, but I'm really the only one who drives the car so I'm too concerned. I used all factory parts, except I didn't use that servo on the fire wall cause it really got congested the area between the evap case and hood scoop. So, I pirated a servo with a long cable and mounted it on the wheel well behind the battery. It's not visible and the cable runs inside the fender, around the booster and to throttle.
