Recently sent my '71 GTO hinges to Rowland for rebuild. Reinstalled them a few days ago and hood fits perfectly. Very smooth action on hinges. Excellent work. Those who have seen the write up he prepared on his process that appeared in Legend and Smoke Signals know what a meticulous process he uses. Will be using him again, I'm sure. I recall seeing other very positive feedback on Rowland on these forums, but don't recall exactly which one. You could probably find it with a little searching. Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I think that Norwood is gearing up to do this
Ive had good success with replating hinge assemblys and repressing the rivets on mildly worn ones.

I highly recommend Rowland's hinge rebuilding services as advertised each month in POCI's Smoke Signals magazine. Rowland has rebuilt my GTO and TA's hinges and he's also a good friend and fellow member of the SoCal Gathering of Goats GTOAA Chapter. Rowland offers faithful restoration to factory specifications of any car's hinges as well as custom finishes if the customer requests same. He welds up and re-bores worn egg-shaped factory holes and re-sizes their bores for factory correct rivets that are manufactured in his home machine shop. Rowland is a certified mechanical engineer, NHRA Safety Safari Member, and a fine old world type craftsman

Does he have a fixed price, or does he quote according the the condition of the specific hinges? Just wondering what it costs to get a set done.

My recollection is that we discussed by phone first, I shipped him hinges, he completed work and returned to me with an invoice, and I sent him a check. Of course, I knew what the cost was going to be from our phone conversation. I recall price varies by what finish you want on the rebuilt hinges and whether you want the original markings (concentric circles, certain stamped numbers, etc.) duplicated on the heads of the new rivets he machines specifically for your hinges . I asked to have mine returned bare steel, so he bead blasted them, did the rebuild, and sent them back to me. Seems like my invoice was $250. Not cheap, but a very good value, given the very careful, precise way he does this work. I suppose price could also go up if you send him a rusty, mangled set to rebuild.

He recently did the hood hinges for my '64 GTO. I'm very happy with them.

Terry, thanks for the post. What color did you make your hinges?

I Have seen Rowlands work and it is something that I would be proud of. I have had many inquieries about doing hood hinges but have yet to do a set ( but I am working on it). I have always directed inquieries to Rowland with confidence.

Do you rebuild "B" body hood hinges?

Rowland,
Do you sell hinges for 2nd gen. f body's? it would be too expensive for me to ship my old one's to you ( probably $80 from the Netherlands) and they're really ****ed up. Can you chrome the hinges and what would be the price. Daan |

Rowland, I painted them Krylon Satin Black, which matches the original finish they had.
