We are in the process of restoring a 72 TA in our shop and would like some forum
members input as we are getting ready to order the stripe decals.the car is a code 11 (Cameo White) w/Black Standard interior.Thus far I have never deviated from color codes on restorations,but am strongly considering painting this car Blue purely out of the appeal of this color over White cars,and the obvious rarity factor that would play in on this particular model year.I am not trying to offend White/Blue owners of these cars as I love those as well,I'm just crazy for Lucerne Blue.Would the Trim plate code alone hold some of you folks back if you had been searching for this car for years and everything else on the car barring color code was correct and professionaly done?Just looking for opinions from some of the fellow expert forum members here on this matter,and thanks in advance for the help and input.

If You like it, and You want to enjoy it, keep it, then do the Lucy...Gonna flip it as numbers matching collector car.. get out the white paint, and put up pics in your garage of Craigs car above !!, or take a look through Keepat's '72 Sticky thread at top of this forum

Bottom line originality brings the money but if its for fun do as Bruce says and wing it. If it was me I'd keep it original either way but thats just me.

72s are rare. Changing color would depend on your motivation. If you like blue that's great. If you are trying to increase the car's value don't bother. Subsequent owners will be able to obtain copies of the original invoice from PHS detailing the original content.

Looks like I'll be ordering a Blue stripe kit! Resale at some point is a factor,and it seems Blue cars bring a bit of a premium,coupled with the fact that I prefer the blue cars.It seems unanimous changing a code 10 or 11 car to blue on a 70-72 T/A would hurt the value instead of help.Thanks for all the input,its what I needed to hear!

If they aren't these stripes, they are wrong and you will be disappointed:

One of our members here makes THE most accurate set that exists. All the others that were mass produced previously were so badly made, and so inaccurate, and their companies were so inattentive to our complaints, that one of our guys got fed up enough to make them himself. Check with his website to verify that the set you are buying is one that was supplied by him.
