69 Gto Transmission Two Letter Code ?
Working on a 69 Gto with a 3spd Dearborn. According to various retailers, the correct two letters that should be painted yellow on the casing are DB. Eric White's book says the same thing, but his book shows a 3spd Muncie in 1970 got the letters DG and his book doesn't even show a Dearborn as an option in 1970. Now, it gets confusing. My original 1970 Service manual clearly has a section for a 3 Spd. Dearborn Transmission and it clearly states at the end of the section, that the two letter code in yellow paint should be DA. Soooooooooo. Who and what is correct? Has anyone ever seen DA? Thanks for your help.

? about your 69 but you refer to 70?
My 69 manual has the same info as you stated. IMO when writers write and editors edit information gets left out. Trust the manual first. patrick

Sorry, wasn't trying to confuse anyone. I am working on a 69 but own several 70's. I was just trying to point out that the White book doesn't even show the Dearborn Trans available in 70 when the manual clearly has a section for it. Meaning I don't know who or what to trust when it comes to information. I would find it hard to believe that in 69 they used DB for the Dearborn and then in 70 according to the manual they used DA. Why the switch? Thanks for your reply. I would tend to agree about trusting the manual as well, but surely I can't be the first guy to see this discrepancy am I? But yet no one offers DA stencils? Again, confusing!

Could someone with an original 69 service manual look in the section for Dearborns and see what it says? That would probably answer my question. Thanks again.

the not so common stuff is, well not made because no demand. However a PQ turbo 400 is GOLD. all about demand. I have 2 Dearborn 3sps (long tail) for my Catalina. Just because they are hard to find.
As I mentioned try not to put too much trust in information written by enthusiasts. They can make mistakes and often leave out the less desirable information. IMO patrick ps its all good.

I'm pretty sure that they switched from the Dearborn 3spd in 69 to a 3spd Munci in 70. I have a 69 Dearborn kicking around and yo can still see the DB painted on the top of it.
