I bought a 70 hardtop tempest few days ago. Very few options on this one originally a six cyllinder with a powerglide and at the moment has a chevy small block and turbo 350 automatic in it. Thats going to change soon.

Hot ride. Kinda like a blank canvas, free to "paint" it however you wish without having to worry about originality, collector value, etc.
I dig. It's the same end of the hobby I like to play in.

Possible "sleeper" look when done?

Plans are to remove the chevy drivetrain and replace it with a pontiac 400 with turbo 350 trans. Rebuild the front suspension and put disc brakes on it, rebuild the rear suspension and put in a 12 bolt posi. I have all the parts just need someone to buy the small block and trans before I can go forward.

Nice find. Last Tempest...are you going to keep it column shift with bench or switch to buckets with console?

Awesome! My first car ever. '70 Verdoro green, 350, glide, manual steering and brakes but AC. Wound up with an Olds 403 installed, great running motor. Had it for 8 years or so, great high school memories and racing at E-Town in NJ. Have fun on the build!

Is that Granada Gold (paint code 58)? Love it! Mine's just like it, but currently has a GTO hood and Judge wing on it. I'm leaning toward ditching those to go back to the plain Jane LeMans look. Contemplating a stroker build on the 350...

I've done a lot of work to the stripper and I got alot left. I am making progress on her. It is granada gold. I replaced the front and rear suspension with new tubular control arms, twelve bolt 4:10 posi, disc brake conversion, s-10 steering box, custom driveshaft
Swapped over from a chevy six and a glide to a pontiac 400 with a turbo 350. I want to change the 6 cyllinder radiator support to a v8 and also the fuel line as well. I still have a bunch of things to finish, but I can drive it. |

Me likes!
Every time I see "granada gold" while reading leisurely it sticks in my mind for a moment like it said "grandpa gold". Funny. I was born in 69, so it is definitely a color of car my grandpa would've driven.
