appliance parts source?
Where do you guys like to buy parts? I need to replace the icemaker in my fridge.
I could go to sears but looking for options. It's a 6 year old Kenmore Elite Thanks |

Check your Yellow Pages to see if there's a local appliance parts store. There's one a mile or so from my house, it's a lot more convenient than having to order from somewhere else.

icemakers
They sure don't give icemakers away. I got sticker shock when they said $130.
Make sure it is not the little valve in the back too. I also go to the local shop as they have a knowledgeable parts staff that are very helpful. Greg |

I have bought alot of appliance parts off Ebay and had good luck. I paid about 40.00 for a new ice maker the last time. I did have my part numbers.

The appliance parts pros site is good. I also use Appliancezone.com. Decent luck with both. Appliance zone gave me the wrong ice maker one time and sent me another for free. Did not want the original one back. Ordered from both numerous times. Parts Select has good videos on how to fix them. Local places I have found charge at least double the on-line price.

Get he part number from Sears, then search it on EBay. I sell a LOT of used appliances, and buy most of my parts from EBay.
We have this place that's local, they give me a good price. http://www.reliableparts.com/

Bought a brand new one off of ebay about three years ago, still working good. For some reason the exact replacement was expensive. The one I bought on ebay was a universal model that fit a number of fridges, it was only about $40

Thanks fellas! you all are the best! I wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. I have done the sears pn to google jig. Some of the sites I looked at seem shifty.
The ebay idea crossed my mind too. |

Donovan, if you buy from Sears always get the extra warranty. Then repairs are covered. We do that with everything we get from there. A year and a half ago they ended up replacing our tri-door frig for free thru the extended warranty. They've repaired my chainsaws, washer, and grass trimmer the same way... no cost.
