Default IA2 block wait time info.

Any idea on how long to get an IA2 block. Is 6 months too long wait time for a replacement IA2 block that has been paid in full since January? I was all excited when I finally ordered one but now the excitement is loooong gone. Any info or feedback is appreciated. This is NOT a slam for them but I am just curious on other's experience. I repeat this is not a SLAM for All Pontiac. Thanks.

That is in the neighborhood of wait time of 6-9 months for my IA2 block, quite the contrast of my IA1 that came in just under two weeks

I understand what your going through. I paid the $3k for a IA-2 in early March of 2012 and didnt receive it until late September of 2012.........But the guys I did order it through did deliver my block to me at The national in Ennis.....They more than drove the extra mile to get me that block.

its always a bummer to wait, but I have an IA1 still and an IA2. Its 5 -6 months wait when they pull tooling out of production for improvements, but if they didn't keep pulling them for improvements we would not have registered mains, screw in freeze plugs, extra head studs, dry decks, thicker web or any of the other improvements. Its my understanding that the molds had to be serviced for some changes earlier this year. waiting 6 months is better than in the late 90s when there was'nt one to wait on and I had to keep throwing stock blocks away that would break

I got mine in a matter of a few weeks from order to delivery. I guess my timing was good.

6-9 months for anything is unacceptable.

NOT bashing All Pontiac.

Just a general statement.

Agreed. A friend on here went to Norwalk with cash in hand to buy an IA2. Couldn't get one. Went home with a alu. MR-1.

It is soooooooo nice to have choices! If he was racing a Ford FE engine he would have gone home with nothing! Both companies, Pond, and Genysis have stopped making blocks period. Back to NOS junk. We are lucky. Waiting is no fun, but at least you have a foundation for big power when you finally get it.

@ponjon, I hope you don't want kids... they take 9 months

biz 101...
1. you must offer products that are currently in demand
2. you must be able to deliver those products when consumers want them
3. it doesn't matter how good your **** is if nobody knows about it, or they can't get it!
4. if you don't make the customer happy, you just gave the sale to your competitor!!!!

2 people at the same event wanted an IA2 block and ended up with a MR-1 because they couldn't get it when they wanted it!!!

That is sad -- and keep your fingers crossed they dont have "issues" with that aluminum block that wil just cost them more --

I'm puzzled. All Pontiac had an aluminum IA2 on display. Was it not for sale (I looked at it but didn't ask)?
And doesn't that also imply that there were no iron MR-1's available at Norwalk?

But regardless, it's good to have choices. With (2) aftermarket block vendors plus the remaining factory blocks, everyone has options to fit their needs and wishes.

Eric

Probably if they were there with money in hand, they had enough to buy the aluminum block for about the same price of a cast iron IA block?

You're the one that bought the MR1A, then?

Congrats, if so.
