Default OEM vs Aftermarket Glass

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone ever used aftermarket tinted glass for their 68/69 GTO? If yes, did the color match the original tint?

Thank You,
John

I'm interested to hear too. My tinted windshield has no scratches, but the pits in it drive me crazy, especially when driving at night. I've been thinking about having it changed for a few years now.

I replaced the windshield, rear window and quarter windows on my 68 GTO. They matched the original tinted side windows. I purchased them from Auto City Classic http://www.autocityclassic.com/. I had a problem with the rear window where the curve was not correct, it would not seat properly and I could not get the trim on. I called them about 6 months after I purchased it. Auto City investigated as they have a jig to test the fitment. They sent me a replacement at no charge. It fit perfect. I did not have to return the defective one. I had them date code the glass.

I've heard the blue tint strip at the top on the tinted glass is not of the correct color/type. Is this true? Something about it's spray on or whatever, and the originals had something actually IN the glass?

All the replacement windshields I've installed have been a much darker blue than the original stripes were, but I'm not sure if all suppliers are like that.
