They are just trying to build a case for suing California. Deep pockets and all that.

I agree. At the risk of becoming unpopular, if he was going 90 mph through a business district on racing slicks; the answer to "who's at fault?" is pretty straightforward.

Exactly. Road bumps are not a problem when taken at the posted speed.

Yeah, you can. You have to submit a claim within 6 months of the incident, and then if the claim is turned down by the appropriate governing body (it always is) the matter can proceed to court.

Everyone, city, county, and state will be defendants.

Well, about 5 different law suits are working there way into court right now opposing Cali. stupid C.A.R.B. rules as pertain to commercial vehicles. IF this goes through (which I doubt) it would bankrupt the state for good.

Basically the state of Cali. overrode long established "interstate commerce clauses" by forcing out of state trucks to abide by Cali. ONLY rules, they have opened the proverbial Pandora's box.

Add to this, the info they used to base their finding on are now PROVEN to be incorrect, and I don't mean they missed the mark by a little, they missed it by a times factor of about a thousand.

On top of that, the LEAD "scientist" that was putting all of this info together was found to have falsified his degrees and credentials, and yes, he is still employed!

Only in a government agency could such ineptness survive.

Interesting legal system you have in the People's Republic of Kalifornia, Dillon.

The road they crashed on wasn't designed for high speeds and drifting. Driver error and neglect.

That car was a high 9 second car in the 1/4 mile guy's with stock tires it runs high 10's.
1/4 mile: 11.1 seconds @ 133.4 mph that's a lot of ginger bread.

There are a lot of assumptions here. What if the family or some investigator figured out the cause and the family announced it. Maybe, just maybe they are not sue happy and now that they have the info, they can put the cause of the accident to rest. Maybe thats all they wanted. Maybe thats the way they can move forward withthis whole very public and very debated death.

It doesn't matter that they were more than likely going to fast. But fast does not always equal crash especially when an experienced driver is behind the wheel.

Honestly, I cant see based on the immediate reaction here and in my own thoughts that they could possibly want to go to court over this.

Sounds about right. Going 90 on a surface street? Blame yourself. Saying the road was at fault is ludicrous.

Car with that much power.....they have a reputation of being a scary car, lots of accidents in them. A street road surface is not really suitable to apply that sort of power....one ripple or bump and it'll step out and spin in the block of an eye.....which is probably what happened.

Just as honestly, and with respect, let me help you out here: I worked for personal injury attorneys for almost thirty years, and there is NO other reason the family did this other than the fact that they're looking for a reason to sue, because the golden goose just checked out.

I'm not talking about if or what on bumps; but a good photo of the wreck shows a direct and serious left front wheel curb impact and significant skid marks just before the curb. They were way out of control before hitting the curb, for whatever reason/ reasons.
