Thanks guys, appreciate it. I've had a hand in/done every part of it so it means a lot to me.
Car ran a 14.8 with 2.56 gear, 600cfm Eddie carb, 2801 cam. I think with poncho intake , 2802 cam and cliff qjet, it will be much better.

That's hot. I love the early 2nd gen formula treatment on the 79+ body. Your subtle and minimalist narration at the end was classic!

Thanks! Load up and drop the clutch!
The 2802 needs a little gas to break tires loose. It also had a spacer with a p4b which might affect power down low.
2801 didn't need as much gas to fry tires.
Keep in mind though she has a 2.56!

YPG... Nice running car, I'll have almost the same deal in my 73, I have Butler ported 670's that flow around 245-250 cfm if I recall, combustion chambers opened up to 78cc. Summit 4 tube headers, 72 intake and Q jet, 406 CID.
I was looking at the 2802 or the simular Crower. It's auto right now but if I can line up everything for a 4 spd swap I'm going that way.

Pontiac One,
thanks for posting.
Car runs well as it is. Pulls strong. I dont shift it over 5200rpm due to the stock rebuilt bottom end. With the 2802 it really starts pulling at 2700rpm, although it has torque down low. With the 2801 cam, it started pulling hard at about 2200rpm. Still much better with the 2802 cam.
Friend of mine runs the 60243 Crower cam in his 406 Judge. That bad boy pulls like a freight train too. He has 1.65 rockers on it, shifts about 6000rpm.
Either way is good. If I rebuild mine, it will likely get the Crower cam. That being said, you cant beat that 2802. I think results would be close with it after riding in his car, IMO. He doesnt have any numbers track wise on his car, nor will he.
Might want to get Cliffs opinion on Crower vs Summit via pm, he would have a better opinion.
One thing I forgot to add- I always run premium blended with 110 or 112. About 30% 110.

Joel

Im interested to hear how your car runs with the head/cam combo. I have 48 heads on a 406 that flow the same as yours, but right now I have an Ultradyne cam very similar to an 041 and Im not happy with it. Please keep us posted.

That 2802 in a high compression 400 with ported heads should pull strong right up close to 5800-6000, they have been known to easily pull to 5600 in a similar 455

Another angle on 2802 performance in a 455 around 9.5:1 with 240 cfm D ports and a Street Dominator intake w 800 Qjet and headers in a 73 Ventura that had 2.73 gears. He was street racing a 2000 LS1 Trans Am that was a consistant 12.0 @ 112 car at the track and with the Ventura hauling 4 adults it was dead even from a punch all the way up to triple digits speeds with LS1 car that had solo driver on the hose.. it was a stock LS1 automatic car with NOS and drag radials.. So it seemed the Ventura had the HP and rev's to be a 11 second car , my best was 12.1@110 in my sig with a old motor in a 80 Bird. it didnt have the porting the Ventura had.
