Default 1968 Firebird 350 Convertible (power top)

A time has come that I now must sell my beloved car from high school!

I have owned this car since 1978 and is the first car I ever purchased. I do not have documentation on my being the second owner, however shortly after buying this car in Spartanburg, SC from a used car lot/gas station, a lady approached me in a parking lot elsewhere saying "this was my son's car" as she walked around the car and looking inside she said "I know this is my son's car. He bought it new and now wishes he would have never gotten rid of it. I know this is it!". It was totally unaltered when I bought it.

The ol' bird was a 350 2bbl, 2 speed auto car, and since it had a/c had a 2.56 rear gear. It also has the much discussed chrome dash pad trim and "Bird" glass that is original to this car. Had standard drum brakes orig, now power disc/drum. Power steering. Also have the PHS and original broadcast sheet.

Has always been a southern car, never seen salt - even now I am in North FL, 30 mi from the beach. The only rust this car had was the floorpans, lower aft corners of front fenders, and rear wheel arches. NOS fenders used in resto, along with aftermarket floors and quarter panels.

Now has a different 350 w/ the original 2bbl heads and a Q-Jet setup, dual exhaust w/ transverse muffler, TH350 trans, and 2.73 peg leg rear. Engine and rear end rebuilt in '92 and is just an occasional driver, less than 1k miles a year. New Cooper tires installed just a few months ago. New aluminum rad within the last two years. Clearanced cast impeller water pump.

The original a/c was not reinstalled during the restoration (1987-1992) and a Classic Air system was installed about 8 years ago. Works great and I've never had to recharge or repair since self install. I do still have the in/out suitcases, evap, brackets, and controls.

The interior is a gray custom cloth/vinyl.

Orig AM radio has been converted to an AM/FM stereo w/ aux input. All buttons and knobs function as normal with "tricks" to get them to work the bal/fade/mode. Best of all it looks original because it is externally!

Console mounted clock has been replaced with a mini tach in the clock housing. Again looks original but of course is not. A 'Pontiac' sticker covers the face lettering that was 'Sun Pro'.

Steering wheel is an aftermarket Grant wood wheel with spokes that I custom milled and utilizes the Firebird center cap that a deluxe wheel used.

Rally gauge package has replaced the standard gauges.

Was originally Verdoro Green with Pearl Parchment interior and white top. Now 1992 Ford Bright Calypso Green Met with mild graphics and pinstripes, gray cloth interior, and white top.

I have done all the disassembly, mechanical repair/replace, and re-assembly of this car since 1978! The paint and interior were left to the ones specializing in such!

Circumstances I don't wish to discuss are causing this nauseous situation to sell.

Asking $24k.

If anyone has any hi / low constructive opinion on my asking price please PM me! More photos to follow.

I really like that color. Have you considered tracking down the original owner to offer it up to him first?

I think your price is fair, nice car and the drop top is a plus. Pictures of the trunk and engine bay will help you.
