Default Need HELP!! Alternator Bracket ???

Okay gang... I need someone to school me on alternator brackets. I've got a 1968 400HO engine with the 8-bolt water pump. I'm dropping this setup into my basket case 1969 Manual steering GTO. What alternator brackets do I need to make this work??

They sell a bracket kit for a '69 manual steering car, but those have 11 bolt waterpumps.

The brackets that I'm finding for the 68 all seem to have P/S.

Can any of the Pontiac experts point me in the right direction? This car has been kicking my rear every step of the way....

In the long run, best to change over to a '69+ timing cover & run the '69+ repro manual strg front bracket & the correct late '69-70 single groove wp pulleys. Both the single grppve pulleys are repro'ed for the late '69-70 A-bodys.

If your '68 Pontiac V8 manual strg set-up is complete, you might be able to find someone to trade the '68 manual strg alt bracket for a '69-73 and to trade wp pulleys.

Default Hi

I should have a 68 only manual set up still...

If your still looking...

large bracket ..spacer...

single water pump and crank pulleys...

If I remember ryte, the bracket needed a weld at a bolt hole

but its original stuff off my 68 vert manual disc. ,4 speed , gto 30 years ago...

Thanks guys... I went ahead and just fabbed up my own mount. Should work out okay. It actually made it's first drive today around the block. First time it's moved under it's own power in over 20 years.
