Default "P O N T I A C" trunk lid script for 72' Lemans - WTB

Looking for one of these... for my father's 72' Lemans.

I know they aren't reproduced currently. Looking for a good, used emblem. Not NOS, but not something all pitted up that would like like crap on a freshly painted car. Also need a template of the mounting holes as well. The face of the deck lid was rusted badly and those dimensions were lost during the panel repair.

Thanks in advance.

I hesitate to recommend The Parts Place but since our host doesn't offer that part you are looking for try this PN EM2181G from TPP. They look great but the studs are not spaced like the factory holes in the lid (at least not on mine). Since you have no holes yet because of the repair you may be good with this.

I think NPD has something similar. (They may even get it from the same supplier) But the rep I spoke with said it wasn't the same as the one used on 71' & 72' cars? Is the stud spacing all that is different?

I have two 68 Arlington built Lemans (within a week of each other) and coincidently they have the tempest style trunk emblem rather than individual letters. I bought 2 (since returned) of the emblems from TPP and the studs were not the same as the factory holes. I don't know if that would be the case for their '72 piece but I thought, since you don't yet have holes drilled, it would work well for you. They are beautiful pieces it's just that my cars are already painted and relocating holes isn't gonna happen.
