Default 70 GTO odd purple wire under dash

See attached picture. While trying to sort out the GEN and BRAKE idiot lights being on intermittently, I found this large gauge purple wire hanging under the dash. It routes over the top of the instrument cluster. I usually associate a purple wire with the ignition/starter circuit. Knowing my car will start in gear, clutch disengaged, do you think someone has bypassed the clutch safety switch? Is the wiring usually passed over the top of the I/C to the steering column?

Are there wires connected to the clutch safety switch?
It is under the dash on the clutch linkage.

Nothing is connected to clutch switch so that must be it.

Yes, those are the two wires that should be connected to the clutch safety switch.
