Default shifter problems.

I have a 1968 lemans i changed the st300 out for a turbo 400.When i fitted the 3 speed shifter (original type)now my console sits on an angle because shifter isnt in same position as the 2 speed shifter. Is there adifference between a t350 and t400 shifter?Different year models have a different shape-angle shifter?I am asking this because the shifter came out of a 66 model. Thanks Peter

The consoles are different so the shifters probably are too. You might be able to find a shifter plate off a '69-'72 3-speed auto that might have the lever slits a little different than the st-300 plate. They were different between the 2 speed and 3 speed I believe.

Use a 68-72 shifter and you'll be fine. Earlier shifters are not a direct fit. 68 will be a Hurst dual gate only, while 69-71 can be a straight shifter.
