Question What do you all use to tow your trailers?

I presently have a '96 F-250 with only 110K miles on it and I'm contemplating getting a newer vehicle in the next 3-6 months to tow my 28ft trailer. My car is not done yet, but I would like to be able to attend some events around Division 1 and also maybe as far west as Indy and as far south as Georgia or Florida. I'm not planning on getting rid of my truck. I've seen the RV's at the tracks and thought it might be something to look into, but I'm thinking that getting an RV might be excessive. I'm not a camper per say, so the RV would mostly be for towing the trailer to any event. This is basically a personal choice I understand, but I'm not sure of which way to go....a dually or an RV.

So the question (or poll ) at hand is what do you all use?

I've owned two Duramax diesels and love them, plenty of power when towing a 28ft 10K lb trailer.

That said, my next true tow vehicle will be a motorhome.

I was only able to afford it because of a 20 year land investment
that paid off.

You didn't say what power train you had in your F-250?
I use my '96 Ford F-250 Xtra cab ....7.3 diesel. It's not a dually but does the job and then some. More than enough power and decent fuel mileage. Came with factory HD package.
Tow a 26' trailer + carry a slide in truck camper with needed amenities. Doesn't require any hitch extension or toad wheel. The three S's and heat, stove, & AC. Use generator from trailer to power it . I did add of big turbo down pipe, cold air intake, & tuner. I set cruise control and motor on ..
Too much upkeep($) on seldom used motor home for me personally.

I have had 3 Duramax 2500 single wheel 4 door short box. Best ride out there for long distance in my opinion. 500,000 combined miles. People can argue the rest as far as power capacity ect... blah blah. They are all pretty good on that these days. Mine is still pre exhaust fliud 2010... serveral talk of added expense for maintenance, and failures with DEF (multi brands). Maybe the bugs are worked out on the new ones.

My dream is to have my restored 1965 Catalina wagon pull my enclosed car trailer with my restored 68 Firebird in the trailer. 389 /w Tri Power and a stock beefed up frame and hitch.
15' stock rims /w aluminum drums out front. Power brakes + trailer brakes.

Should be good to go and a real looker on the road. I will be comin from a long distance to get to the Pontiac shows.

2003 Dodge 3/4 ton quad cab long bed diesel. Engine is around 375hp/750ft-lbs. Trans is 47RE with 48 guts, whiz bang this, triple disc that, and billet things. Truck pulls awesome. Was at 19,800 lbs last fall with 2 cars on a steel deck 2 car open trailer. Knocked down 13.5 mpg. Pretty happy.

I use a '97 Ford class A motorhome. It tows real well and is really nice to have at the track especially if staying overnight. It's not so good on gas mileage though but neither is my Chevy dually with a 454. If I had to do it over I would stay with the RV with a V-10 or try to find a cheap diesel pusher(if there is such a thing).

Local I use a Duramax Dually crew cab 4x4 with a 100hp programmer, if it is more than a day race I use 32ft Thor Class C motorhome with a V10. Pulls a 24ft trailer decent. RV is nice to have...able to get out of the heat, place to fix decent food, and if you are hauling out of town...you get to stay with the car...not to mention you can just pull over in a rest area.
I hear people say how expensive a Motorhome is.....but when you see so many cars/trailers/rigs being stolen from tracks, hotels etc. its cheaper than replacing it all.
My next set up will be a Renegade Toterhome hopefully by first of next year.

Mike, they're not much more than a diesel truck. Your plan is what I'm planning to do.
