Default 69 GTO carb gasket

I pulled the carb off my stock 69 GTO for a rebuild and the only gasket type material between the carb and the stock intake manifold was a thin metal looking gasket. Is there suppose to be a paper type gasket on there as well? The rebuild kit I got included 4 different heavy paper type stamped gaskets, none of which match the metal gasket that was present when I removed the carb.
Thanks.

Thin stainless shield on gasket were used on 1967 intakes only.
Here is the style used for 1968-74 Pontiac Q-jets.

My 68 has both metal and fiber gasket. Original carb and manifold.

Using the steel shim doesn´t hurt anything and saves the gasket if carb is on and off testing different calibrations.
I use one myself on The Judge.

Originally the steel shim purpose was to save the throttle plate from the exhaust preheating channel in front of the primaries on 1967 vintage intakes.
