Got an unusual comment this evening while out in my '66 goat. Guy maybe in his late 20s says "Wow what's that, I've never seen a car like that before. THATS COOL!"

Rare to find a person interested enough in an old car to talk to you about it, but to also have never seen one before.

I don't think I have ever heard a similar comment in the 31 years of driving this car.

Not rare, but uncommon compared to our Bowtie and Blue Oval brethren.

I was filling up my Grandville once, and a youngster driving a Honda was checking it out. He said "Nice car. Did they like, stretch that, you know, like a limousine?"

I laughed and explained that my old dinosaur was not an unusual size for cars back in the day. He was amazed.

When would a guy in his late 20's have seen a car like that regularly on the street? I'm not much older than him and seeing anything from the 60's to mid\late 70's on the street was rare growing up. Most were completely wasted and beat if they were around. He probably grew up with the FWD Cutlass and K-car being the dominant cars of the day.

It's a matter of perspective. When I was in my late 20s, a 48 year old Pontiac would have been a 1935 year model.

I've had people in their 20's through 40's comment "That's a beatiful car. What is it?" When I told them, they had no idea and had never heard of it (1967 GTO). Some people just aren't car people and don't pay very close attention. On the other hand, 20 years ago, I was driving my stock '37 Chrysler Imperial business coupe, and an 80-something lady came up to me and said "That's a nice '37 Imperial!". She knew exactly what it was, and they only made about 1050 1937 Imperial business coupes 55 years earlier. But, it was from 'her time'. So, you never know!

Gentlemen:

Other reason is that the individual that have old nice pontiac auto rarely use them as a daily driver. Therefore, for the non-auto public - they rarely see these cars unless they attend a car show. I am truly surprised how many high school boys have no interest in cars today. The world has changed and cars do not play the role they once held when I was in H.S
