67 goat
A friend of mine just bought a 67 goat, 3 speed and supposedly a 290 hp motor, did not know they came with this motor thought they were in the 300 bracket, also I bought a 64 post gto with automatic on the column, tilt wheel, remote mirror, and something I never seen on a 64 goat a red light in the bottom of the dash to let you know when the emegerancy brake is on and its factory, and the car is pph documented, also has ralley gauges, I doubted this to be all true until I seen the documentation.

'67 was the first year the GTO was offered with an economy engine, 290 HP 400 with a two barrel carburetor.

In 1967 the 400 2BBL was rated at 255HP, not 290HP. Only available with automatic transmission.

RE; PARKING BRAKE WARNING KIT KIT...
...The early kits gave you a Template for drilling the hole.
Later models came with the prevision in the dash pod so the kit was a plug & play install.

The '64 Tempest Factory option Parking Brake Warning Lamp Sales Code 494 used a specific Speedometer faceplate with the warning lamp located on the face of the speedo in the Dash, between the "0" and "120" speed markings.
The underdash Parking Brake Warning Lamp was a Dealer Accessory Package. This the kit that Jeff posted pix of. It is NOT a factory install. If you did not order Sales Code 494, you did NOT get a lamp provision in the speedo face. |

Jeff, the face plate is blank.
IIRC, the speedo itself is same, all the provisions for the lamp exist except for the cut-out & lens in the speedo face. I vaguely recall hearing about the tape idea, so that light didn't filter thru the lens when no lamp was installed, right? If so, then it was easy to retrofit the factory style warning lamp in a '65-'66. Not so for '64, hence the Dealer Accessory Package in your pix. For years, I didn't make note of the specific '64 speedo face plate for Parking Brake Lamp optioned builds, as pictured in the Owner's Manual. I thought the factory set-up was also mounted bottom of the dash. My '64 has neither, so I assumed all '64 face plates lacked the Brake lamp lens since I have the blank style. I think it was Tom Vaught who educated me about it. |
